Z Book — Smart hisaab for everyday India

This Privacy Policy explains how Z Book (“we”, “our”, “the app”) handles information when you use our Android application. By using Z Book, you agree to this policy.

1. Overview

Z Book is built offline-first. Your expenses, khata (customer) records, profile fields (such as name, phone, email, business name, address), and related app data are stored primarily on your device (for example in local storage). We do not sell your personal financial data to third parties.

2. Data we collect and where it stays

• On-device data: Transactional and profile data you enter stays on the device unless you explicitly use export, share, or optional cloud backup features.
• No mandatory account: The app does not require you to create a server account for core features.
• Third-party sharing: We do not share your personal financial ledger data with advertisers for profiling.

3. Permissions (Android)

The app may request permissions only as needed for functionality, including but not limited to:

• Internet & network state: For optional online features, updates, or crash/usage diagnostics as described below.
• Microphone: For voice-based expense entry where enabled.
• Storage / media: For exporting files, backups, or attaching images where applicable.
• Camera: For future or optional features such as receipt capture (if enabled in an update).
• Notifications: For reminders you configure in settings.
• Other system permissions: Such as vibrate or wake lock, used for standard Android behaviour (e.g. reliable notifications).

You can review or revoke permissions in your device Settings → Apps → Z Book → Permissions.

4. Security

• Optional PIN lock helps protect access to the app on your device.
• Data on the device should be protected by your device’s own security (screen lock, encryption).
• Uninstalling the app typically removes locally stored app data; ensure you export or back up anything you need before uninstalling.
• If you use optional cloud backup (e.g. PRO), data may be transmitted and stored in encrypted form on infrastructure we or our providers operate — only as needed to provide that feature.

5. Analytics and diagnostics

We may collect crash reports and aggregated usage information (for example which screens or features are used) to fix bugs and improve the product. This is not intended to include the contents of your private financial entries. Exact tooling may change with app versions.

6. AI and online features

If you use features that rely on external AI or network services, only the inputs you send as part of that interaction may be processed by those services to generate a response. Do not submit highly sensitive secrets you do not want transmitted over the network.

7. Children’s privacy

Z Book is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided data, contact us and we will help remove it where feasible.

8. International users

The app is oriented toward users in India. If you use it from other regions, you understand that processing may occur on servers or networks outside your country when you use online features.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top will change when we do. Continued use of the app after changes means you accept the updated policy. Material changes may also be communicated through the app or store listing where appropriate.
